1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and improve your experience.
Websites can also keep information in your browser's own storage, such as local storage.
2. How We Use Your Browser's Storage
WordRunner does not set cookies. The app keeps some information in your browser's own storage to:
- Keep you signed in to your account
- Remember your preferences and settings
- Keep work you have not sent yet, such as quiz answers given while you were offline
3. What We Store
| Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Keeps you signed in. Kept by Firebase, Google's sign-in service, in your browser's IndexedDB. | Until you sign out |
| Settings | Your theme, reader settings, your current reading mission, and the tips and tours you have already seen. | Until you clear your browser's storage |
| Work in progress | Quiz answers given offline until they are sent, drafts of essay evidence, and a random device code that stops one essay being edited on two devices at once. | Until sent, or until you clear your browser's storage |
| This tab only | Some short-lived information for the page you have open. | Until you close the tab |
We do not use analytics tools in your browser. The app records how its features are used in our own database (see our Privacy Policy).
This website (word-runner.com) stores one thing: your choice of light or dark theme, and only after you tap the switch. The contact form stores nothing in your browser.
4. Third Parties
While you use the app, your browser also contacts:
- Firebase (Google): to sign you in
- YouTube: when a lesson with a video opens, through YouTube's privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may store information in your browser under its own privacy policy.
We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data for marketing purposes.
5. Managing Your Browser's Storage
You can see and clear what a website keeps in your browser in your browser's settings, usually under "cookies and site data". Clearing it signs you out of WordRunner, resets your settings and deletes any work not yet sent.

6. Your Consent
By continuing to use WordRunner, you consent to the use of essential and functional browser storage. You can withdraw consent for non-essential storage at any time through your browser settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
